About John Pearson

John was born in 1957 in Portsmouth where he has lived and worked for most of his life. Naturally Portsmouth and the sea have had a major influence on John's work.

He began painting in 2002 as a self-taught artist and since then has sold in excess of 400 pieces ranging from oils to water-colours, acrylics and mixed media. Most of his work was shown and sold at The Hot Walls, Old Portsmouth where John was the last significant exhibitor prior to Portsmouth City Council's redevelopment of the area in October, 2015.

John uses a variety of styles and tries, wherever possible, to push the boundaries of traditional approaches to art. He offers original pieces as well as a selection of prints.

John comes from a long line of printers and bookbinders, a profession that he chose not to follow in favour of a career in Health Care. He is currently a practising Chiropodist and , a published poet and with his partner has written scripts for an award-winning radio soap opera plays violin with Portsmouth Light Orchestra and Seaview String Ensemble. He is also leaning to play the musical saw!
